Voyager Nightstand

The Voyager bedroom is the centerpiece of the bamboo collec­tion. This group was designed as a classic, ready-made suite, but its shapes coordinate with other pieces to create a rich, layered mix for many rooms. The forms share refined and crafted detail in all their tailored paneling, matching, and framing. The pressed bam­boo adds texture as it covers all the faces of the bed, mirroring a beautiful hardwood grain pattern. A chest and nightstand make use of similar details with a related group of profiles. Newly created, rough-hewn and patterned metal hardware adds distinction and connects the bamboo with other furniture in the collection.

At over 125 pieces, this collection includes many types of furniture, from upholstery to handcrafted wood and metalwork, for every room of the home, and in time, the garden. In style it is hopefully just as ambitious and interesting. There are purely handsome French and Scandinavian modern inspirations, but also the world of historical English forms, and the glamour of the American skyscraper age in between. All these influences are refined and recombined through the ways that I think about vintage and modern living. Some of them are dressy. Some are casual. Everything has an essential American elegance that makes the design lasting.
